We finished another e-bike conversion. This build was a special one because it was completed for Matt’s brother who had never ridden an electric bike, let alone owned one! Since this would be his first PEV, we put together a quick guide to owning your first electric bike. Check it out Here.
The Bike
We used a Gravity XRod bike for the base of this e-bike conversion. It proved to be a perfect candidate with hydraulic disc brakes and a lightweight aluminum frame. This style is comparable to a Trek, Giant or Specialized hybrid bicycle. This bike also came equipped with a comfortable wide seat and upright handlebars. A step-through version is also available for those that prefer that frame style.
The Kit
We chose a Bafang BBSHD mid drive 1000W motor which provides ample power. We purchased the kit from Dillenger. It came with a 48V 11.6Ah battery providing up to a 62 mile range.
The Tools
Below are links to all of the tools we used to complete this electric bike conversion. The video provides step by step instructions and shows exactly what tool was used and how to create this electric bike.
